How to Become a School Counselor

All individuals seeking a Florida teacher certificate are required to submit passing scores for the General Knowledge, Professional Educator, and Guidance and Counseling Subject exam. Visit https://www.fldoe.org/accountability/assessments/postsecondary-assessment/ftce/ to learn more about the examination dates and associated fees, and to register for the exam.

Founded in 1964, the Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA) is a proud division of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). FSCA is a vital part of helping school counselors develop the programs necessary to meet students’ needs in Florida.
